Community members came together on Nov. 5 to support the veterans at the 3rd annual MG Hero Run 5K. The event was organized and founded by Jason Massengale and took place at the Nixa Parks and Recreation Center.
“Its important for our service members to know that we care, to know that we appreciate them, and ultimately, that we honor them,” Massengale said.
Along with the many adults that partook in the run, Nixa JROTC students ran alongside them.
Allyson Pendergraft (11) was one of the students who felt compelled to support this event.
“[I ran this run] for the people who serve our country every day; it’s asking too little of us just to run for them,” Pendergraft said.
