Yearbooks will be released in May this school year, for the first time ever. Historically, each Nixa High School yearbook has come out at the beginning of each new year. This way it covers all events that have happened the previous year. But that date has been creating some problems for students.
Nixa Journalism yearbook senior Chloe Fischer said the change in release times will help seniors.
“I’ve been on the graduation spread my past two years, so I was on it last year and the year before that and it was really hard to do because of the seniors who would’ve been gone and you can’t interview anyone because they don’t want to talk to you anymore,” Fischer said.
This new date has not only helped with the creation of the yearbook but the overall efficiency of the yearbook team.
“It’s also helpful as of a big part of yearbook because in years past our editors have like graduated and left. And then whoever is the underclassmen have had to come up during the summer and finish out the yearbook,” Fischer said.
Nixa Journalism yearbook editor in chief Emma Hoffman said the yearbook will be different from now on.
“So when you first get your yearbook, it’ll be the same as always except in the back of the book there will be a supplement which will basically look like a Wingspan and it’ll contain spring sports and spring events,” Hoffmain said. “In order for us to get this deadline done, we have to send our pages by March and with that being said, obviously there is still two months left of school after March so there will be another supplement … and it’ll still cover spring sports which will be like track, baseball, all of those and then it will have prom in it as well as the spring theater show.”
