Nixa choirs went to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City on May 5th for a competition. Only the Aetos Singers and Chamber Choir competed. This was an annual competition for Nixa, and this year Chamber Choir won the overall sweepstakes award and Aetos Singers won 2nd place in their division. The competition not only gave the Chamber Choir its third sweepstakes win in a row but also developed individuals within their choirs. Abigail Teberian (12) had been in Chamber Choir for three years, as well as three other choirs at Nixa.
“[The contest] helped my performance skills in the sense of being professional,” Teberian said. “It was pouring, yet we had to go into the performance looking proper and professional.”
Being a senior, this win for Teberian was bittersweet. Seven other seniors had been alongside Teberian throughout high school and within the choir.
“Being the only eight [seniors] to have been a part of the past 3 chamber choir wins at worlds of fun was amazing,” Teberian said.
