This fall Nixa High School is putting on a production of “Beauty and the Beast.”
The first show will be on the stage Nov. 7, located in the Aetos performing arts theater.
Allison Fleetwood is directing the show with assistant directors Lakyn Daniels and Cory Glenn.
Freshman cast member Brooklyn Lance, is performing in her first show at the high school this year, playing the Laundry Lady and being one of the main dancers.
“I can’t wait to show everyone the hard work that we have put in,” Lance said.
The production of Beauty and the Beast is going into the vault at the end of this year, so Nixa chose this to be their show for this fall.
“It is now or never if we are going to do the show in the next 6-7 years,” Assistant director Daniels said. “ We needed to do it this season.”
With the cast alone for this show having around 80 students in it, there is responsibility and teamwork with the community it creates.
“It brings a hope of humanity,” Daniels said. “ I mean the arts always bring people together.”
Theater is more than just a class for some students, they make lifelong memories.
“The people that I am meeting and the memories that I am making add more fun to my high school years.” Lance said.
Rehearsals are three days a week for 3 hours, with some star rehearsals. There is crew that is in charge of making the costumes and props, as well as stagecraft and costume prop and makeup classes during the school day. Most of the props and costumes that you will see on the stage are created by the students at NHS. The effort and hard work that the students put in is important to them. The show times and dates will be Nov. 7 at 7 PM, Nov. 9 at 7 PM, Nov. 10th at 2 PM.
