EagleAir students at Nixa High School experience a unique environment while growing in skills and learning about real-world news.
EagleAir is all about spreading the news while also having fun. An inclusive community is essential for newsworthy stories. EagleAir produces news videos on YouTube and NixaJournalism.net. These videos come out every two weeks and are constructed by 14 students.
Sophomore Olivia Miller, a new student a part of EagleAir shares her experience.
“The group, we are honestly so close, were tight-knit, so it’s really good to be close with everybody and doing the stories together,” Miller said.
The main basis of EagleAir is getting stories out and on time. EagleAir strives to grow people’s knowledge in a timely manner. Lots of details go into creating a newsworthy story and this can be challenging.
“[A challenge would be] getting things out on time because there is a deadline,” Miller said. “You’re always trying to make sure that your story is good and that you’re not late.”
Junior Brynn Nelson, executive producer for EagleAir, remembers an important tip, essential for planning an interview.
“Make it more of a conversation than just asking them questions over and over,” Nelson said
Many students experience lots of emotions going into a new class.
“Find your thing,” “it makes it a lot easier knowing what kind of stories you like to do.”
Overall, Eagle Air holds a close community of friendship and knowledge.
