A new police station is coming to Nixa. This new station has been in the works for years now and has been planned to be bigger and more efficient to house the growing police force.
Joe Campbell, the chief of police has said he felt like they needed a new one.
“Our department has doubled in size in the last 20 years; we went from 25 to over 50 officers in 2024,” Campbell said.
This station will take a while to finish, it could take a year and a half.
“The anticipated completion date is 14 months from February start of 2025 so that would put us finishing up in spring of 2026 for a grand opening,” Campbell said.
The new station will be located on 5 acres of land on Leann Dr. and Highway 14. Rob Seiner, a real estate agent who sold the land for the station and who is also a Nixa Police Officer, said that it was suitable for this new station.
“It was a convenient opportunity that the land became available and it was in a good location,” He said. “As Nixa continues to grow west, with the Kansas Expressway coming down it will be a great location to service our communities’ needs.”
The new station will be different from the old one. It will be built bigger.
“The new station will be able to adequately house our growing department. It is important to build for our future needs, not just for the needs of today,” Said Seiner.
As for the station being replaced, there are no current plans for the building once it’s vacated.
“We do not have any plans for the old police station at this time. The city administrator is considering multiple options with that building,” Campbell said.
