Hello, this is Belen Gonzalez
Speaker 2:
And this is Ana Matos with EagleAir Radio.
Speaker 2:
Thank you for tuning in today to our podcast where we will learn about Nixa drama.
Speaker 1:
Hey Ana, have you heard about Nixa drama?
Speaker 2:
No. I only know a little
Speaker 1:
Well, you’re in the right place and I’ll tell you just how you can get involved.
Speaker 2:
Why should I consider drama?
Speaker 1:
Because it can be an outlet for you to express yourself and make meaningful connections. You don’t have to be in a class to be a part. You can consider auditioning for a play or trying the club. Senior Maxx Pyle shares his personal experience with drama.
Speaker 3:
It’s definitely given me a sense of belonging because I spend just as much time here at the school as I do at home basically, because with rehearsals happening three times a week and a lot of people are here and devoting their time and effort, and so it creates a family away from home. And I’ve seen people that maybe don’t have the best home life, that that’s exactly what they need. They can have that family away from home and just being a part of something much greater than me has been an irreplaceable experience throughout high school, and it’s going to stay with me and college and the rest of my life.
Speaker 2:
Wow, that sounds so meaningful, but what if I just don’t have the time?
Speaker 1:
Then the clubs for you. They meet the first Thursdya of each month from 2:35 to 3:30.
Speaker 2:
Awesome, thanks. But if you do have the time, consider auditioning for a play. It’s hard work, but it does pay off. It can be a way to impact others. Take the fourth grade matinee, Maxx says it’s a memorable experience.
Speaker 3:
Favorite day every year is the fourth grade matinee, which is when we stay out of class one day and we perform for fourth and sixth graders. And in the last two years, ever since we’ve had the Aetos, or I guess last three years, ever since we had the Aetos, there’s been more kids than there are seats, and so we’ll have to bring in chairs and just seeing their energy and their faces and watching, even if it’s just a handful of kids watching their lives change because of what we put on stage. I mean, those are just memories. You don’t forget.
Speaker 2:
Hey, Belen, is there any way we can get more involved?
Speaker 1:
Yes. If you’re really committed looking to the Thespian Club for this though, you need to earn 10 points to be inducted, which can be accumulated by joining a class or being apart on stage or backstage of a play. Then you have the chance of going to state conference, which happens yearly in either Kansas City or St. Louis where they do workshops and where other schools perform.
Speaker 3:
It’s an awesome experience and there’s late night activities afterwards and lunch at the hotel. Just being able to be in a big city is something in of itself. Last year it snowed and it felt like a movie.
Speaker 2:
What a magical experience. I can’t wait to make my own.
Speaker 1:
And now I think it’s time to give thanks. Thanks. Special thanks to Maxx Pyle for setting aside time for this, and thank you for tuning in with us today.
