This is Joy Davis with EagleAir Radio. Thanks for tuning in today. Today I will be covering a high school club called Fellowship of Christian Athletes. [That thankfulness is really just coming into recognition life of the blessings God has given you.] FCA is one of the clubs provided by Nixa High School people come to learn about God, dig deeper into the word, make new Christian friends, eat snacks and play fun games. FCA can grow your relationship with God, build your confidence to share the gospel and provide a welcoming environment. Freshmen Addison Kelly, a club member, gives us more details about the benefits of FCA.
Speaker 2:
I benefit just because I’ve just been growing in my faith and I’ve learned so much just about the Bible through it and I’ve built more friendships through it because I have met so many other believers in Christ and we all have just gotten really close. It can benefit others because you’re able to get into the word and one, learn more about it. And two, you get this community of believers who all have the same values and morals as you and who you can all grow in your faith
Speaker 1:
Together. Colby Kopp, a freshman in the club tells us what goes on in FCA.
Speaker 3:
So usually you can come in and there’s usually donuts or snacks that you can, and they’re really good, obviously. And then usually we start with some questions or games that are really fun, get to talk to others, and then we go into the word and talk about just the great thing God’s has for us throughout our day. And then we end with a prayer and it’s awesome and then you can just talk after and just have a great little time.
Speaker 1:
FCA helps add God to this school and encourage students to go out and share the gospel.
Speaker 2:
I think it helps because it helps kids be able to, one, know that they’re other believers so they can grow in their confidence when they go and share their faith with other people
Speaker 3:
You’re in a community with. Think when you’re talking about God, when God’s in the room, it just feels like so much more different and the day feels so much better and everybody who is in there, just God spreads the love of God to everybody to show it into the school.
Speaker 1:
FCA really helps students improve and change their mindset. Going into school.
Speaker 3:
It really just puts me in a positive space. Sometimes I feel negative before I go to FCA or I just am not ready to spread the love of Jesus. When I go to FCA, it completely changes that from, oh, just another day or today’s another day, to spread the love of God to others and spread his mercy and just feel close.
Speaker 2:
It changes your mindset because whenever you can just walk in first in the morning and start talking about God, everything’s put into perspective and you can go throughout your day just thinking, what would Jesus do? And it helps you just to be more positive throughout your day because when you’re talking about Jesus, everything just feels better.
Speaker 1:
Addison and Colby tell us why they like FCA so much.
Speaker 2:
My favorite part is probably just the community. You get to hang out with all your friends, but then you’re also growing in your faith. And I believe whenever you put God first in your relationships, that you’re just growing in your faith as a community and just within your friendships.
Speaker 3:
My favorite part about the club is really just the fellowship we have together. So I really like how it unites Christian friends and you just get to talk to your friends about Jesus.
Speaker 1:
FCA means so much to the people that come because it is a welcoming environment where they can hang out and learn about God.
Speaker 2:
It means just to me that I can grow my relationship with Jesus and get closer to God throughout it. And it’s just a great way for me to get in the Bible and learn more about who God is and what He wants for my life. They should come because it’s a great way to build your faith and meet other believers and know that you’re not alone and you can just make really great friendships that are all centered around God and they just continue to grow and get better. And it’s people who you want to surround yourself with who believe in the same things that you do.
Speaker 1:
Everyone should come to FCA on Wednesday mornings. It’s 7:05.
Speaker 2:
Anyone can come to FCA. It’s a great way for people to grow in their relationship with God. And if you just come, you’re going to be met with a community of people who really love you. And so anyone can come and anyone would have so much fun. Have a nice week. Make sure to grab a donut before you leave.
Speaker 1:
