“Captain America: Brave New World” is an excellent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It goes in tandem with the storyline of past Marvel movies with new characters, while still keeping some favorites from older movies. The movie follows 48-year-old Sam Wilson as the new Captain America and his sidekick 17-year-old, Joaquin Torres after the recent election of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross as President. In the movie, Sam finds himself in an international dilemma and he must navigate an unseen threat to the president and a possible mole. Sam struggles to find the truth when so many people are being manipulated by a puppet master, who pulls the strings to frame a friend and threatens to send America into World War III. Throughout the movie, Sam tries to clear his friend, Isaiah Bradley’s, name.
I enjoyed the White House scene with Sam, Joaquin, the president and many others, where Sam and Joaquin had to protect the president from violence that broke out. The scene with Red Hulk and Captain America fighting was very fun to watch because of all the destruction and the heartfelt moment at the end. The part when Red Hulk first shows up was also one of my favorite scenes because of the transformation and the news reporters’ reactions. There was a vast amount of action spread through many parts of the movie. The twists in this movie are very intriguing and keep the viewer on the edge of their seat wondering what will happen next. The humor and jokes were funny without being inappropriate or too cringy. There were times when the film would start to get slower and less interesting; however, within a few minutes, something new and exciting would come about.
The ending to the movie was a wonderful way to open up opportunities for more Avengers movies. There are aspects of the movie such as characters and references that viewers might not fully understand if they haven’t watched “The Incredible Hulk” movie, the Falcon and Winter Soldier series on Disney+, and the movie “The Eternals”. I would recommend this movie to someone who enjoys action and sci-fi.
