Averi’s review 9/10
Jaden and I went to Koriya, located on South Fremont Avenue in Springfield. They serve fresh and healthy traditional Korean food. Walking in, I noticed the calm and modern atmosphere. It’s a counter service restaurant, so Jaden and I ordered, grabbed our drinks and then sat at a table to wait for our food. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with chicken, and to drink, I had a peach Ramune. Ramune is essentially just a soda, but there is a small glass ball that you pop out of the lid to open the drink. In total, I paid about $16 for my whole meal. That is relatively cheap for the amount of food that I was served, especially since the food came exceptionally fast, with us only having to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for our food to be brought out to us. I was brought a big bowl of ramen that had green onions, a boiled egg, seaweed and chicken. The broth was amazing, it had a faint soy sauce taste, but also tasted like chicken too. The egg was a great touch to the flavor as well. I left feeling super happy and with leftovers to eat later. Overall I would rate Koriya a nine out of ten.
Jaden’s review 6/10
I ordered a tropical Ramune with a teriyaki chicken rice bowl, hoping for something simple but flavorful. The presentation looked nice, and the portion was more than plentiful, for the price, but the teriyaki sauce threw me off. It had a weird texture that I wasn’t used to. The taste improved after I added some soy sauce, but overall, it just didn’t hit the way I hoped. The atmosphere of the restaurant was definitely my highlight, the whole place has a calm, comfortable vibe that I really liked. If I came back, I’d probably try something else on the menu. I’d rate my meal a six out of ten. Not horrible, but something I wouldn’t order again.
