With great wins, come great losses. This season the Freshman Baseball team learned how to celebrate wins, and take a loss. The team closes the season with a record of 15 wins and 10 losses. Throughout the season the boys learned what they needed to do to become a better player and a better teammate for next season.
Freshman Jett Kellis has been playing baseball since he was five years old, and was able to reflect on this season.
“My goal for this season was to bat above a 400 batting average, and to be the best defender I could be, and I think throughout this season I was able to complete it,” Kellis said.
The process of creating a winning team started with tryouts, leading to a selection of the best players, which set the team up for success. With success came struggles, but the team found ways to overcome the bumps in the road.
“We struggled a lot this year of being a team, we didn’t like to get along with each other, but I think if we would’ve gotten together more as a team we’d be so much better,” Kellis said.
Freshman Brayden Zito was able to take away lessons from this season and apply them to everyday life.
“I think this year it’s kind of shown me what it means to be a student-athlete, with juggling practices, early morning weights, and games, with schoolwork and getting everything done, it puts in a little challenge,” Zito said.
The team was able to use their flaws and win games, and accomplish their goals. The freshman team is looking forward to what next season brings in, and hopefully become more bonded as a team.
