Ashlynn Michau (00:00):
This is Ashlynn Michau with EagleAir Radio. Thank you for tuning in today. Today’s show is the biggest hot topic of this time of year. What is actually the best Christmas movie I’ll discover, which is actually the best today with one of Nixa High School’s, biggest Christmas fans, freshmen, Zoe Miller. I heard that you are a Christmas movie expert, is that correct? The rankings will be based off of IMDBs Top 100 Christmas movies. Prior to this, Miller and I had watched the top 10 of these and we’ll give our personal rankings, so IMDBs ranking for 10th is “Gremlins.” Where did you put your “Gremlins” after your rewatching of it?
Zoe Miller (00:45):
I put it in fifth because I felt like it was a good movie overall. It just wasn’t better than some of the other ones.
Ashlynn Michau (00:51):
IMDBs ninth Place is “Miracle on 34th Street,” the 1947 version. Where’d you ended up ranking it?
Zoe Miller (01:01):
Sixth because it felt like it was cute and everything. It just wasn’t there. With some of the other movies, I don’t have much nostalgia or anything from it
Ashlynn Michau (01:12):
For IMDB’s eighth place is “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation,” and I have to say this is one of my favorites. It’s number three for me. It was the funniest thing. Oh, thank it. National Lampoons.
Zoe Miller (01:29):
I really liked National Lampoons. I thought it was really funny. It was number three for me. Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear
Ashlynn Michau (01:38):
IMDB’s. Seventh place is “Elf.” Oh yeah.
Zoe Miller (01:42):
I thought “Elf” is fourth.
Ashlynn Michau (01:45):
Oh, I put it as fifth. It’s,
Zoe Miller (01:50):
It’s not my favorite.
Ashlynn Michau (01:52):
Imd IMDBs sixth ranking is “A Christmas Story.”
Zoe Miller (01:56):
I put “Christmas Story” as eighth because it wasn’t that thrilling. It didn’t get me into it. I didn’t get invested into the storyline.
Ashlynn Michau (02:09):
Honestly, I’d never seen it before. It was just kind of me. It was just me. It was kind of generic, honestly.
Zoe Miller (02:21):
Yeah, I agree with that. It was subpar and similar to some other movies and
Ashlynn Michau (02:29):
For IMDBs fifth ranking, it is “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” Oh, I love Rudolph. It’s a childhood memory for me. Yes. You remember the Silver Dollar City parade? They always have Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer in it, and it’s like, oh, it’s ingrained into my memory when I think Christmas. I think Rudolph, for me, honestly,
Zoe Miller (02:51):
Yes, I put Rudolph as one because it’s nostalgic and I love that movie because it’s nostalgic and I love Rudolph and it’s just a good storyline overall.
Ashlynn Michau (03:00):
Oh my gosh, no, because Rudolph, it’s just like, I think when the bottom of Little Snowman broke in, it traumatized me as a little kid. Did it traumatize you too? No, it didn’t. It traumatized me. It was scary for some reason. For a little bit, but for me, I put it on number four. I think there’s better excuse. Okay, that’s wrong. IMDBs fourth ranking is a “Christmas Carol,” the 1951 edition.
Zoe Miller (03:30):
I hate “Christmas Carol” so much. It’s 10th for me. Literally. It is so bad. I didn’t even want to finish it. It’s so boring. Story is there, but Execution wasn’t CGI. Oh my God, that’s terrible. But that’s another thing,
Ashlynn Michau (03:45):
The CGI, Hey, it was better than some two thousands movies, but a “Christmas Carol,” it’s not there. It’s in ninth for me, I also got traumatized by it as a little kid. It was like the Mickey Mouse version. It traumatized me. IMDB’s. Third movie is “Die Hard. ”
Zoe Miller (04:07):
Oh yeah. Number one, “Die Hard” Isn’t a Christmas movie. It’s like number nine for me, but “Die Hard” isn’t a Christmas movie just because he is whistling Jingle Bells, so doesn’t make it a Christmas movie. And also just because it takes place at Christmas doesn’t make it a Christmas movie.
Ashlynn Michau (04:22):
Yes, it does. I put it at 10th because it’s not a Christmas movie. It just shouldn’t be there at all. For second Place, IMDB has the original “Home Alone.” I love “Home Alone” so much. “Home Alone” is actually the best.
Zoe Miller (04:39):
Yes, I love “Home Alone.” I put “Home Alone” a second also. Agreed. Agreed. It’s a good movie and I love it. And it’s nostalgic because I’ve watched it so many times. It’s a classic Christmas movie and it’s just amazing.
Ashlynn Michau (04:54):
I see it at least three times every Christmas season and I will watch it outside of the Christmas season. It’s just a good movie, but hot take, the second one’s better. Yes, it is. I agree. I like New York more Last, but not at least number one’s IMDB ranking is It’s a wonderful Life. Zoe, what’d you get on this?
Zoe Miller (05:15):
Okay, I thought “it’s a Wonderful Life.” It’s seventh because it’s a good movie. Not the best ever. It’s not my favorite, but it’s not as terrible as some of the other ones. Really.
Ashlynn Michau (05:30):
You put it above, how’d you put it below “Elf?”
Zoe Miller (05:36):
Because I like “Elf” better.
Ashlynn Michau (05:38):
I put it up first. I watched it last year for the first time in English class. It made me cry. It was a good movie. I genuinely thought it had the heart. It has the hearts and the feels and it makes me feel something and I will be rewatching it this Christmas season. Personally, our top three review is my top three is “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Home Alone,” “National Lampoons” and Zoe …
Zoe Miller (06:04):
Mine is “Rudolph,” “Home Alone” and “Christmas Vacation.”
Ashlynn Michau (06:07):
“Home Alone” And “Christmas Vacation” is some of the best. Yes, that’s our personal recommendation on nostalgia. No, no, no, no, no. Wait. This is Christmas. Thank you all who have tuned in to listen for today all audio and music credits. Go to John Williams. Catherine O’Hara and Will Ferrell. Thank you Zoe Miller for having me for Eagle Air Podcast.
